JAMBI PAVILION

Welcome to Jambi!

Nestled in the heart of Sumatra, this province embraces the natural mysteries and historical treasures that captivate the soul. Here, Mount Tujuh Lake offers breathtaking views of a volcanic mountain backdrop, while the stunning clarity of Kaco Lake mirrors the magic of nature like a glassy jewel.

Nature’s beauty is only one of the many wonders awaiting you in Jambi. Its culinary delights are equally captivating. Dishes such as Tempoyak Ikan Patin (fermented durian with catfish), Gulai Tepek Ikan (fish cake curry), Nasi Gemuk (fragrant rice), Kerutup Ikan (spiced grilled fish) and other local dishes are hidden gems for seafood lovers.

At the Jambi Pavilion in TMII, visitors can explore the Rumah Bertiang, also known as Sepucuk Jambi Sembilan Lurah—a traditional stilt house that reflects the wisdom and heritage of the Jambi people. Another cultural icon is the swan-shaped boat called Kajang Lako, a traditional ceremonial vessel. This elegant boat becomes the center stage in official rituals such as weddings, where the bride, groom, and their families glide along the river after the ceremony.

Jambi’s natural heritage is also reflected in the Batanghari River illustration that decorates the pavilion, accompanied by statues of elephants, tigers, and bears. In the front yard, visitors are welcomed by a traditional rice-pounding tool called a teratak, symbolizing the agrarian roots of the region.

DID YOU KNOW?

At Merangin Geopark, visitors can witness remnants of the prehistoric world through fossils of animals and plants that date back hundreds of millions of years. Nestled in the mountains of Air Batu Village, Jambi, the geopark also offers thrilling adventures such as white-water rafting through its challenging and scenic rapids.
