TMII Launches 5K Running Trail as a New Community Hub for Sports
Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), Indonesia’s iconic cultural and tourism destination, has introduced its latest initiative to promote a healthy lifestyle among the public.
Now revitalized with a fresh new look, TMII embraces the eco-park concept, with green open spaces covering up to 70% of its total area. This transformation makes TMII an ideal venue to host large-scale activities, including running events.
TMII has become a popular location for major running events such as the Crystallin Run, Fun Run Natsu Matsuri, Women Half Marathon, Runhub, and the upcoming Salonpas Run in November.
Running at TMII offers a unique experience—like touring Indonesia through the beauty of traditional house architecture, the scenic Archipelago Lake, and lush greenery with minimal pollution. The comfortable and refreshing venue makes TMII a perfect community hub for sports, especially running.
Alongside this initiative, TMII also launched the TMII Running Club (TRC) and a 5K running trail, aimed at helping new runners easily navigate a clearly marked 5-kilometer route. The trail features signature TMII pattern markings along the path, starting from the Kori Agung Plaza of the Indonesia Museum, circling Archipelago Lake, passing by the “Taman Burung” Bird Park, looping the outer trail, and finishing back at Kori Agung Plaza. The TMII Running Club is introduced as a community hub dedicated to supporting physical activities, particularly running.
“With the launch of TMII Running Club, we hope to establish a community hub that inspires people to stay active without fear. We’ve provided a clearly marked 5K running trail with TMII’s signature patterns to help runners navigate the route,” said Intan Ayu Kartika, President Director of TMII.
To strengthen this initiative, TMII has partnered with IndoRunners, Indonesia’s largest independent running community, to organize upcoming running events at TMII. IndoRunners is well-regarded for fostering a vibrant and inclusive running community.
Yasha Chatab, founder of IndoRunners, expressed his appreciation for TMII’s commitment to becoming a running destination and providing a comfortable, well-designed route for runners.
“The Greater Jakarta area lacks open spaces with smooth, safe, and runner-friendly infrastructure. We’re thrilled that TMII’s management welcomed our idea to establish a 5K route within the park. Hopefully, more runners will explore this trail, whether training solo or with their communities,” said Yasha.
In conjunction with this launch, TMII is offering a limited-time annual pass promo, reducing the price from IDR 600,000 to only IDR 250,000. This pass grants unlimited entry to TMII for one full year. The offer is valid until September 30, 2024.
