Ogoh-Ogoh Parade Returns to TMII to Celebrate Nyepi 2025
In celebration of Nyepi Day and the Saka New Year 1947, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) will once again host the vibrant Ogoh-Ogoh Parade. This special event will take place on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 3:30 PM (WIB), starting from Pura Hindu Dharma Penataran Agung Kertabhumi and concluding at Kori Agung Plaza, Indonesian Museum.
This year’s parade carries the theme “Kala Rau,” portraying the legendary battle between Lord Vishnu and the demon Kala Rau. Deeply rooted in Balinese culture, the tale is often linked to lunar eclipse phenomena, symbolizing the cosmic balance between good and evil.
The parade will showcase 1 large Ogoh-Ogoh and 10 smaller ones, brought directly from Bali, accompanied by the traditional mapeed procession and appearances by mythical Balinese figures such as Rangda and Barong. The celebration will also feature traditional Balinese dances such as Tari Pendet and Tari Rejang, offering visitors an authentic cultural experience.
TMII President Director Intan Ayu Kartika stated that this is part of the institution’s mission to preserve Indonesian cultural heritage. “The Ogoh-Ogoh Parade represents TMII’s role and commitment as a cultural preservation institution. This marks the second year we’ve held it at TMII, in collaboration with Pura Hindu Dharma Penataran Agung Kertabhumi, located within TMII. We expect it to be even more festive than last year. Previously, there was only one Ogoh-Ogoh; this year, there are eleven, and more cultural groups are participating.”
The event serves not only as a spiritual moment for the Hindu community, but also as a celebration of Indonesia’s cultural richness open to the broader public. Visitors don’t have to travel far to Bali to witness it, the parade is free to watch with only a regular TMII admission ticket. Additionally, special promotional pricing will be available for guests entering TMII from 3:00 PM, with tickets priced at just Rp12,500.
