Pipilaka is Calling! TMII Invites Visitors to Explore the Sacred Forest of Pipilaka

To welcome the festive Christmas and New Year holiday season, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), in collaboration with the Pipilaka Foundation, is holding a debut exhibition titled “Road to Pipilaka Calling TMII” at the Contemporary Art Gallery (CAG), TMII. This event introduces the world of Pipilaka to the public and serves as a prelude to the main exhibition, “Pipilaka Calling TMII,” scheduled for June 2025.

The exhibition was officially opened on Saturday, December 14, 2024, and will run until January 31, 2025. The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Creative Economy of Indonesia Irene Umar, Presidential Special Staff for Creative Economy Yovie Widianto, President Joko Widodo’s son Didit Hediprasetyo, Deputy for Strategic Development of Creative Economy Cecep Rukendi, TMII President Director Intan Ayu Kartika and her board of directors, as well as Pipilaka Founders Wahyadi Liem and Eno Sigit.

“This time, we’re collaborating with the Pipilaka Foundation to create an interactive immersive digital exhibition at the Contemporary Art Gallery TMII, which aims to raise awareness about caring for the earth and loving the environment. We hope this exhibition becomes a new attraction at TMII and an exciting year-end holiday destination,” said Intan Ayu Kartika, President Director of TMII.

Yovie Widianto, Presidential Special Staff for Creative Economy, praised the collaboration. “Hopefully, this exhibition will grow even larger in June. For now, this marks the beginning of our collective efforts across creative economy sectors—from artists and creators to cultural supporters. I believe we’re all capable of contributing something even more meaningful to this country. Let’s welcome the spirit of Pipilaka.”

Irene Umar, Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, also expressed her full support. “When I found out this is a ‘road to’ event, that means there will be a chapter two. Please let us know how we can help, so we can collectively support this local IP, Pipilaka—not just in Indonesia, but worldwide. My hope is that within the next year, we can become champions in our own country and expand our reach globally,” she shared.

Meanwhile, Wahyadi Liem, Founder of Pipilaka, explained that “Road to Pipilaka Calling TMII” is a prelude exhibition focusing on introducing the concept through various activation programs and workshops. Visitors can also enjoy an Artwork Showcase and a spectacular Digital Immersive Mapping Show. A large Pipilaka installation will be placed in front of the Contemporary Art Gallery (CAG) as a photo spot for visitors.

A Charity Pass for Pipilaka Calling TMII is now available on tiket.com for those who wish to enjoy the exhibition while supporting humanitarian, education, health, and environmental causes.
