No Need to Travel Far to Bali, Catch a Free Kecak Dance Performance at TMII This Weekend

Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) is set to present a spectacular Kecak dance performance titled “Geseng Alengka” on Saturday, July 27, 2024, starting at 5:00 PM WIB at the Jawadwipa Amphitheatre, West Java Pavilion. This performance tells the story of Hanoman, who is sent by Sri Rama to locate Dewi Sita in Alengka, and his fierce battle against Rahwana.
“Geseng Alengka” recounts the tale of Hanoman’s mission to the Kingdom of Alengka to search for and rescue Dewi Sita. However, the evil Rahwana commands his forces to burn Hanoman alive. With his supernatural powers, Hanoman breaks free and retaliates by setting the city of Alengka ablaze.
This Kecak performance offers more than mesmerizing movements and the hypnotic “cak-cak-cak” chants that define the art form. It also weaves dramatic and theatrical elements into the experience, transporting the audience into an intense and magical atmosphere as they witness Hanoman’s courage and strength in the face of grave evil.
Jawadwipa Amphitheatre at TMII’s West Java Pavilion has become an ideal venue to enjoy the beauty of Kecak dance without having to travel all the way to Bali. These monthly performances offer visitors the chance to experience the authentic charm of Balinese culture right in Jakarta.
“Geseng Alengka” is free to attend with the purchase of a regular TMII admission ticket, available online via www.tamanmini.com or on-site using cashless payment methods. For public transportation users, a TransJakarta bus stop is conveniently located at the TMII entrance, and a free shuttle service is available between the LRT TMII Station Lobby and the Tourist Information Center.
