TMII and Directorate General of Buddhist Community Guidance Sign MoU for Religious Activity Implementation
Jakarta, February 21, 2025 – Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) and the Directorate General of Buddhist Community Guidance of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support the implementation of religious activities at TMII.
The MoU was signed by TMII President Director Intan Ayu Kartika and Director General of Buddhist Community Guidance Supriyadi, witnessed by TMII Commercial Director Ratri Paramita, Bhikkhuni Wijayani, and Buddhist Community Advisors for the DKI Jakarta, Bekasi, and Banten regions. The signing took place at Caping Gunung TMII on Friday, January 21, 2025.
The President Director of TMII emphasized that TMII, as a cultural tourism destination in Jakarta, also functions as a place for preserving culture and promoting interfaith harmony. “At Taman Mini, we host places of worship for all major religions side by side,” said Intan. She also noted that Buddhism is an integral part of the Borobudur Temple Tourism Park (TWC), where Waisak and Thudong ceremonies are held annually, including at TMII.
Meanwhile, Director General Supriyadi expressed his gratitude to the TMII management for their collaborative efforts in promoting cultural values. “What we’ve documented and signed is not merely symbolic. It carries a shared responsibility for all of us to implement and support various activities, especially those that aim to strengthen cultural representation and Indonesia’s national identity,” he explained.
He also emphasized the importance of optimizing existing facilities and imbuing them with meaning. “That meaning lies in providing space for Buddhists to express their religious practices—not only to strengthen their faith, but also to offer educational insights to the wider public,” Supriyadi added.
The Director General further encouraged the Buddhist community to actively utilize Vihara Dwipa Arama, located within the TMII complex, for religious activities—while also honoring the legacy of the late Brigadier General (Ret.) Soeraji Aria Kertawidjaja, a key figure in the construction of the vihara.
The collaboration between TMII and the Directorate General of Buddhist Community Guidance is expected to strengthen interfaith harmony and further promote Indonesian cultural heritage.
