TMII Celebrates National Kebaya Day with “Berkebaya at TMII”
Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) joined in the celebration of National Kebaya Day, which is commemorated on July 24, 2024. The designation of this day is based on Presidential Decree (Keppres) No. 19 of 2023 concerning National Kebaya Day.
As one of Indonesia’s cultural preservation institutions, TMII took part in uplifting and promoting the kebaya as one of Indonesia’s meaningful and beautiful cultural heritages by inviting all visitors as well as staff from regional pavilions, museums, and partner institutions to wear traditional kebaya and batik cloth (kain).
Intan Ayu Kartika, President Director of TMII, stated, “We are pleased to contribute to the celebration of National Kebaya Day. As the kebaya has become a national identity, we hope this celebration encourages the public to love and preserve the kebaya by making it a regular part of their wardrobe, especially among the younger generation.”
All visitors were encouraged to participate by wearing kebaya and becoming part of the collective effort to preserve Indonesia’s cultural legacy. In addition, they could also enjoy TMII’s attractions from above by riding the Cable Car, observe and interact with endemic animals at “Taman Burung” Bird Park, Komodo Museum & Reptile Park, and the “Dunia Air Tawar & Serangga” Fresh Water & Insect World, as well as explore the rich diversity of culture through the regional pavilions.
For those planning a visit to TMII, it is recommended to purchase tickets online at www.tamanmini.com. For public transportation users, there is a TransJakarta bus stop at the TMII entrance and a free shuttle service available to transport visitors directly between the LRT TMII Station Lobby and the Tourist Information Center (TIC).
